tardis records are delighted to welcome uk tech-house hero flow to the tardis records stable for their eighth release. the three tracks making up the trine ep were recorded together with simon moorecroft (a.k.a. simon vinyl junkie) around the time of his first vinyl releases back in 1996-1997. all three tracks sound completely contemporary whilst having more than enough old school flavour to give flashbacks to any 90s ravers. lead track boy girl action has skipping, garage-influenced beats with rolling bass and swirling atmospherics, whilst a breakbeat, vocals and a stabby intro give trine on the flip a more ravey feel. closing out the ep, i see you is the dubbiest cut here, with another heavy bassline, cut-up vocals,and subtly swung percussion. eli and oscar have loved testing these tracks out on the road and can vouch for their impact on a peak-time dancefloor!

needs is a new label that bills itself as a not-for profit concern, which may apply to many record labels, but this one in particular calls upon a strong cast of deep house producers to impart the kind of smallville-friendly sounds that discerning heads should snap up in a heartbeat. hubie davisons i know is a melancholic affair with heart nagging strings, while johannes albert injects a little spice into proceedings with a choice breakbeat and some excellent bird song on vigilia. dj swaggers 21st century slow jam is a peppy little shuffler with warm acidic bass and a kick ass swing in the beat, and then bobby pleasure finishes the record off with the wistful but tech-edged cloudspotting.

nice price deal !!! following our quest for inventive approaches within the sometimes tired and highly commodified house / tech house / techno / minimal or whatever you call it scene, we ve gone this time for landesvatter. regardless of having already signed a few full lenght lps on the highly esteemed normoton as well as on under_line and others, joachim landesvatter prefers to keep a low-key atittude. he offers us two great tracks, each one followed by a very special remix. the original of nome is a highly bouncy digitech house track for the dancefloor, with an infectious sinewave to keep you hooked from beggining to end. the remix of nome, in charge of arp aubert (marco niemerski aka tensnake & stephan lorenz) who run the great mirau musik, comes on the form of a hysterical dub house track that literally puts >the roof in the air<. we recommended for full effect to keep the volume on the red. as usual, the second half of the release follows at a quieter pace. hausse is a track on a out to lunch tradition, greatly influenced by detroit but at the same time distancing itself from the current plethora of nostalgics. in-house duo taron-trekka closes the package with a deep remix, rich on freaky jazz touches. we lack words to describe it.

route 8 back to his techno project q3a dropping some heavy grooving tracks! a year after his last release on delsin, the talented hungarian producer is back with four more cuts of techno and electro excellence, club tracks that ooze atmosphere and intriguing details. the nameless place kicks off with a tense and tangled techno track that is urgent and slick as is hurries on through damp underground caverns. the very end of you completely flips the script and is a slow motion bit of dub. with only sparse kick drums, the focus is on the cavernous pads that smear in huge arcs as watery droplets and heavenly chords add to the brain soothing effect. temple of retribution is back to techno, this time with loose, jumbled percussion and clipped drums cantering along at high speed. again it s roomy stuff with no real edge, the deva station drops into house mode, wriggling drums and distant vocal cries finished off with some classic detroit keys. it s a high tech, soulful track that closes out a diverse and devastating ep.

swiss pair domo are back on their own framework label with another fine ep featuring two fresh and inventive cuts.
this well established swiss duo have already served up the first two eps on this label proving they have a sound that mixes up classic detroit and berlin sounds with their own vivid imaginations and a love of tech house. they also work as live performers who focus on spontaneity, and that certainly shows here.

esteban adame and dj dex as el coyote returns with two smoking dancefloor tracks. dream dealer takes the los hermanos inspired hi tech latin soul template into edgier territory with a thumping kick drum and deep driving bassline. the e2e4 inspired chords and esteban s wicked solo half way through the track assure dream dealer will be a highlight in any club set. the flip side la frontera leans more to the moodier techno spectrum. the track slowly builds to a melodic hook, a percussive break and a requisite hands in the air moment.

next up on asking for trouble after selling out the album and re-pressing comes a four track remix ep for radioactive man’s luxury sky garden album. life-time friend of radioactive man and control tower partner dexorcist aka simon brown is first up to deliver his take on ‘sonic portal’ on the a side. his style has always been uncompromising and as a music lover and dj he s been a major influence on tenniswood’s style and taste for a long time. dexorcist turns in a detroit influenced banger which goes deep. ben pest then follows with his own take of the same track. a member of funk band pest, purveyor of wonky techno, music tech teacher and hardware enthusiast ben has also released on jerome hill’s don t’ label, i love acid and horror boogie to name a few. his take on ‘sonic portal’ is as genre bending and weighted as you’d expect. over on the b side pain struck stanley dumb remix ‘blast furnace’ - a fast and furious electro track which was released as a digital bonus to the album. they work it into a breakneck speed techno number. taste the amphetamine! completing the package biggabush (aka glyn bush) brings his dub influence to the mix. bush of rockers hi-fi connected with radioactive man during a mastering session asking to do the mix after hearing the record. the results are impressive and provide a welcome tempo and vibe change to the ep with its deep and dubby elements.
